Ya true.... becoz they are so well disciplined, so they push hard on academic achievements.
Anyway.. bad schools have great students and good schools have terrible students as well.... so... just go and visit the schools physically and if u can, check on the teachers. It is useless if a great school with great students handled by rude teachers. That's the one i am facing now.. i hope i am wrong!

I enrolled my Chermaine to the nearest school and 2nd well maintained primary (building) in our small town. With the near distance, I fetch her to school every day and ask my parents in law to check on her recess break time everyday.

I thought i was lucky to get a place as the decision to enrol her into this school came very last minute and was thinking in such small town, should have lesser students and wont be that much of academic pressure. Upon 1st week of school only i realised through conversation with other parents, IT IS a top school in town and the school expects top kids.

Example: After school tuition in the school till 3.30pm daily... YA... DAILY... including weekends! And the teachers are strict in everything and the asst. principal is just acting like a mafia, shouting at parents IF parents went inside the school compound without permissions, asking a student whether she is dumb and deaf when the student failed to answer his questions!
Duh.... I hope things are not as worse as i heard ...

So my conclusion is.. LUCK is LUCK :) Get a less hasle one and u are comfortable with...

Sorry... such a long comment again ... =P

hahahahaha .... really ah? But for those academic not so good school here hor, no need to see the few classes at the back, even the classes in front also makes you wanna pengsan liao. Actually one you step into the school hor, you can feel already :( Maybe it's just the case in my area lo ...... coz my area either very top and too perfect school or kampung still school :( Those balance a bit, top 3 school but not so pressure ones are far from my taman :( I really think that chinese school is very pressure, that's why I hope I can find a less pressure one among all the pressure ones :P You enroll already?

Steph!!!

I love your long comments leh ..... and can I say OMG, is the school your girl in now consider a school with the teacher acting like that????? You have no plans to change school ah? the teacher there sounds scary leh ..... :( Even primary 1 need to stay back till 3.30pm?? Here hor, only primary 4 and above compulsory!

Why I am stressing on discipline is that I am afraid got samseng in school and police will visit school very often like one of the school beside mine!!! That makes the kids very hard to concerned lah ... I don't want my kids kena bully and collecting $$$ by her friends paying 'safety fees' :( I really saw that happens before! :(

Ya ... I am enrolling my Angel to a less hassle and far school from my area. I just want her to be happy and yet, still learning something useful. I don't mind her ready herself for pressure in school, just hope that it will not be those good decent pressure and not loaded with never ending homework.

Ya that's her school now... the 副校长 is acting like that. Not sure abt the teachers.. hopefully not as bad as I heard. So far.... she kena complained few times... so i believe the teachers are very strict.

No la.. dont think will change as it is very near to my house and we can visit her more frequently (recess time). But for secondary, in consideration of changing AREA as the one nearby... has all the one u listed ^_^ 'safety fees', once someone burnt the classrooms... OMG!

For the extension hours, standard 1 is not staying back for that 3.30pm... applicable for upper standards, but DAILY including weekends.. that's crazy.

such extreme schools huh ...
yeah, enrolled last year already, just between 2 schools nearby. I choose the one which is in a safer area (traffic not that terrible and not so many foreigners woking around). Don't know can get or not, this year will know.

ya ..... after I enrol Angel, then I saw a teacher asking her about exams, then she told me 6 exams too!!! Aiiikksss .... I almost tarik balik my form leh. Luckily when I asked her about the homework and she say everyday 2-3 homework lo. But heard that S.J also have a lot of homework (after S.T???) and that's why I didn't think of S.J. Your Chen is ok if a lot of homework or not? My angel is a bit "not that rajin" one :P

I also enroll Chloe to a less pressure school that nearby my house. But due to less students in the whole school, but with enough teacher, classroom, and facilities the school has trnsformed to full day. All classes are from 7.30am - 3.30pm. Quite tiring hor? Afternoon class is for those tuition, homework class and co-curriculum. This is the nearest but not so pressure school at my area. 30% is bangsa lain, that mean 1 class will have 2-3 Malay or Indian student. I think my girl can suit beeter as her Chinese is not so good too.

ya Caroline now new kssr system not so pressure like kbsr. less homework also.
aplim123 wrote on Mar 1
Caroline, Vicky is right. My niece now standard 1, my sister told me chinese school changed system already to kssr, less exams (if I'm not mistaken only twice per year). My currently standard 6 niece, she was like having exam every month last time!

By the way, Angel going to chinese school? no?

How i wish to enrol her to private... but SO FAR!!! Like 60-70km PER WAY!!!!! HOW TO GO!!! ~>_<~

It's good that near you house have such nice school! Here hardly find small student classes, mostly are 50 students in one class. But even primary 1 also need to attend till 3.30pm? Quite tiring leh ..... but I like your school as it only started at 7.30am.

I don't wnat that she still have to do homework till late night since she doesn't really like copy writing homework.. Other interesting homework like matching words, etc then she likes la,
